Several conversations today w people in the key executive departments. And while the particulars are hard to pin down my impression is that the Musk take over stuff is considerably worse than is being presented in the press. By this I don’t necessarily things they *done* yet but the level of …

This would be amazing. Sadly I don’t think our elected are nearly imaginative enough.

I read this too quickly and had understood β€œBlade (2005)” and was confirmed when I read to the end.

I wanted to go to this place but they had one of those β€œtrump good, Kamala bad” posters in their window and this was like two weeks after the election.

I use mine much more than my regular oven. The temperature control is great.

I read that whole thing and aside from β€œcut costs” I’m not sure there was anything tangible in it. Seems like grievance-driven thing, which is on-brand I guess

Congratulations city council and the mayor. You made the city much worse for no reason.

Increasing the population in our cities by removing restrictions to new housing and making them less car-centric to attract people would help too. 2030 census and reappropriating is not looking for dems

I’ve seen my neighbor DoorDash a single bubble tea from a place that is 4 min walk from us. I agree with all these points but idk what you do about this.

In 2020, fatal crashes in Philadelphia spiked. Before
the pandemic, around 90 traffic deaths occurred each
year. In 2020, there were 155. Traffic deaths fell in 2021,
but not to pre-pandemic trends. In 2023, that trend
continued with 123 fatalities. Other cities around the
country experienced a similar increase in fatal crashes.
However, Philadelphia’s per-capita rate of traffic deaths
remains much higher than peer cities like New York and
Boston

Chart Title: Annual Traffic Deaths per 100,000 Residents

This chart shows the number of traffic deaths per 100,000 residents in six major U.S. cities. The cities are listed vertically, with the number of deaths per 100,000 residents shown to the right of each city name. The numbers are represented by horizontal bars, with the length of each bar proportional to the number of deaths.

Data:

Philadelphia: 8.03 deaths per 100,000 residents (yellow bar)
New York City: 2.72 deaths per 100,000 residents (black bar)
Boston: 5.78 deaths per 100,000 residents (black bar)
Washington D.C.: 6.3 deaths per 100,000 residents (black bar)
Chicago: 6.63 deaths per 100,000 residents (black bar)
Los Angeles: 7.82 deaths per 100,000 residents (black bar)
Additional Information:

The bars are arranged in descending order of traffic deaths, with Philadelphia having the highest rate and New York City having the lowest.
The chart does not include data for all U.S. cities.
It is important to note that this data represents traffic deaths per 100,000 residents, not the total number of traffic deaths.

I haven’t been here long but see this everywhere. The monthly meetings of my civic are just imbued with this false-based approach to everything.

I agree and think Barry was getting there when Troy cut him off and started talking about β€œrespect” and they (strangely) invoked a recent anti-Islamophobia campaign.

I agree. Has anyone asked those players what those β€œreasons” actually are? I thought trying to reframe it around β€œrespect” was just to avoid the convo that those players probably have bigoted views.

We liked it so much we binged the whole thing. It sent me on search to learn more about The Troubles (current events may have something to do with that too), so I'll have to check the book out.

How a Colombian City Cooled Dramatically in Just Three Years With β€œgreen corridors” that mimic the natural forest, the Colombian city is driving down temperatures -- and could become five degrees cooler over the next few decades.

In MedellΓn, a city of 2.5 million people in Colombia, the Green Corridors urban restoration project has planted 880,000 trees and 2.5 million plants, reducing pollution and bringing temperatures down by 2 degrees C. #ShareGoodNewsToo reasonstobecheerful.world/green-corrid...

The person I talked to was aware of the problem and said they were discussing additional parking behind the elevators. The deck and building are owned by the company that owns the gym.

The most insidious part of p2025 if you read it closely is the way they talk about β€œcapture” of the contract and legal parts of the agencies. These are the people who deal with writing the RFPs for govt goods and services. The scope for corruption is bigger than most suspect

Watch for contracts going to β€œanalytics” companies with ties to Theil and Elon. I predict they will be used to churn through a lot of data, make specious findings that cause a lot of people a lot of problems. I suspect this is how the β€œdenaturalization” push will begin.

I agree with writer's points here (as a dog owner) but I think saying "taken them over" is hyperbole for engagement-bait. There are many inconsiderate people in this city, some own dogs. I see loads more impactful and dangerous inconsiderate acts on my day to day tho than dogs in target or whatever
