What is the point of traveling to America if there's a chance you may be deported or put in detention?
That is not a country that seems to want people visiting.
Could members of the public not have called the ABC and clogged up their switchboards in response to it being pulled?

Even younger than Payman and she said skibidi in a senate speech (which I don't understand, I am an old fuddy duddy millennial).
This is very strange.
But even odder is that people read these and still don't think there is a problem.

I would imagine we'll still see you pushing for much needed transparency and FOI's.
I did call and got an answering message. They may have been responding to other calls.
Might try again on Thursday...

Imagine that.

Climate change is getting serious but the Labor government that has just been voted back in wants to approve Woodside's North West Shelf and destroy Scott's Reef.
This only makes sense if we're taxing Woodside heavily for use in mitigation.
We should be taxing fossil fuels.
I think this point could be made by Labor a bit louder.

This sounds reasonable.
I agree with you Ben, I don't understand why the taxing of unrealised gains is in there. If it is designed to help people not use their super to buy housing then I think I may be all for it, but I'm not sure of the implications on other assets. Would like Labor to explain.
Ok.
Because this discussion is complicated, and I'm learning and that's why I'm asking these questions.

Reported Cases have continued to rise sharply at the national level and in most states & territories.
As always, it is hard to be certain with this series; the data quality is very shoddy and the raw data is incredibly spiky.

Ok, so what I want to know is does Labor's proposal help to stop this sort of rort?
Does it make sense to tax unrealised gains?
Or am I misunderstanding something? At first glance that particular bit doesn't make sense to me...

23.05.2025 06:05 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0No I'm not worried about ever having that much in super. I know it is ridiculously out of reach for someone like me, what I would like to understand is why Labor's policy is about taxing unrealised gains. I'd like to understand the rationale of this.

As our planet warms, these extreme weather events will become more frequent & severe.
How much more devastation do our leaders need to see before they act?
That's really good.
This means the gender make up of our parliament is now a lot more representative of the gender make up of the country.
I hope that translates to changes in terms of how we do politics as well as better policy where it comes to issues that impact women more.
It's a little bit funny though. But maybe only for the first episode and the rest is just kind of sad.
22.05.2025 04:09 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Interesting.
Do you think it is a good idea to split Labor MP's and Senators into separate columns for readability?
Although granted this does help from a sort of bar chart perspective.
Do we now have more women in Parliament than men?
Well McClintock asked Roberts-Smith whether he did drink from the leg and Roberts-Smith told him no. Goodness knows what made him think his client was trustworthy. I'd assume experienced lawyers would be more sceptical where it comes to what their clients tell them.
