βWe need to rebuild public and political consensus behind that fundamental idea that we all understand - that global challenges need global solutions.β

A red pound sign with the text "but the UK invests less than 1% of aid spending to specifically meet their needs." An asterisk explains that the figure is taken from the House of Commons International Development Committee report 'FCDO and disability-inclusive development'
As we await the Chancellorβs budget announcement, CBM UKβs conviction is unchanged: to break the cycle of poverty and disability, inclusive development is not optional.

6 graphics depicting people. 5 are red and one is purple. The text reads: 15% of people - that's 1 in 6 - have a disability...
Less than 1% of UK aid is targeted specifically at the billion people with disabilities globally. Aid cuts mean that those most marginalised will be left even further behind.

The UK government must not miss this opportunity at COP30 to make sure people with disabilities and other marginalised communities are included in climate action. Disability inclusion should not be an afterthought as we transition towards renewable energy and green jobs.

1 billion people with disabilities live in countries at risk from climate disasters and recent events in the Caribbean, the Philippines and the Pacific Islands have demonstrated the devastating impact on those most often left behind.

The text reads: "The UK government must not miss this opportunity at COP30 to make sure people with disabilities and other marginalised communities are included in climate action. #COP30"
CBM UK welcomes the recognition of the serious impact of the climate crisis on the communities who have done the least to cause it but regrets that there was no mention of disability inclusion.
06.11.2025 17:28 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0
We believe that people with disabilities must have a seat at the decision-making table and that climate action needs to be strong, inclusive, and well-resourced. We're proud to stand with others calling on the UK Government to champion a bold and fully-funded outcome on just transition at #COP30.
