Visualization in control rooms for decision making

It was common to build control rooms with huge screens (eg Queensland Rail & UK NESO energy operator)

Great for demonstrations but given the desktop screens are closer and higher resolution when is the main screen really used?

Google's AI visa advice for China is simply wrong.

China can grant a 10 day transit visa. The legal implications of believing Google's AI and arriving in China assuming 30 days are not positive.

Climate change economics: Summary report | Royal Society A summary report on a Royal Society climate change economics conference.

This @royalsociety.org report has not received nearly the attention it deserves.

Key finding: "most current approaches to economic assessments of impacts of #climate change do not reflect the severity of consequences that are suggested by the latest physical climate science & evidence on impacts" ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

More than #SixOnSaturday of the very many (mostly gum) trees examined on our hopeful but fruitless wild Koala search.

We could barely see the trees for the forest, but look carefully, and you can see what might be three telltale claw marks on one of them.

Meanwhile, yesterday at 46.1ยฐC in Birdsville, QLD, was the hottest day on record in October anywhere in Queensland, since records began 133 years ago in 1892.

It is fine to argue about conditions for future ILR applications, but pretending it is OK to retrospectively go back on the implicit contract with existing residents is not fair play and not British.

Unless, we want to be known for breaking our agreements & not standing by our word as a country.

The worlds most fossil fuel rich countries (Saudi/UAE/Qatar) are planning a shift from Oil/Coal/Gas towards renewables (Solar) by 2035.

This provides energy security, economic resilience & supports growing electricty demand due to rising temperatures.
