I’m showing you Ukrainian art.
Maybe I just need something beautiful.

World fails to come up with treaty to deal with plastics pollution Negotiations to reach a treaty to deal with the growing issue of plastics pollution around the world fell apart on Friday.

The consequence of the failed talks is devastating, as it leaves no clear path for nations to collectively address the mountains of plastic that are filling landfills, clogging oceans and showing up in chunks on beaches and other public places.

Or maybe nobody is more or less loathsome.. Just, complicit. As we all are, because of existing lol.

It's so simple, that's why so many are still missing it. Yes, the "problem" are brown & black bodies who could vote for equal rights. The "bad guys" are folks who oppose white male supremacy. Everything he says is true, that's why they believe it. They're being honest!

But I think we're much better positioned to agree that nobody alive today is directly, intentionally complicit. We're all just struggling through this thing together.
Except the billionaires. Lol let's point our anger in the right direction!

04.07.2025 20:26 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I see a hopeful glimmer in this pro-Canada pushback, but can we agree that bad-ass lumberjacks with hearts of gold is an identity worth fighting for?? And yes, illuminating injustices in Canada (particularly Indigenous) was a catalyst for this type of politics.

04.07.2025 20:26 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Honestly, Canada is a little late to the game for "identity politics"- typical, we're always behind the US in those insidious cultural ways. For so long, our identity was "at least we're nicer than Americans" -- but finally we're buying into divide/conquer politics. Yay.

04.07.2025 20:23 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It's a shared moment in time that all Canadians can relate to, and it's very, very dangerous to forget the little things that used to give us hope!!! Looking at some of the other comments on this thread gave me chills! But I feel better now, so thanks for engaging!

02.07.2025 01:21 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 0    πŸ“Œ 0

No of course not! Justin who, the cute career politician?? But one of the things he represents is a time when we could hold our heads a little higher when thinking about Indigenous rights for the first time.

02.07.2025 01:21 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

It was a spark that started a fire for some activists. Residential school exhumations may never have happened, MB has an Indigenous premier.. I agree that anger at the system is the right move here lol But be careful- just because it didn't change YOUR life doesn't mean it didn't change lives.

01.07.2025 12:53 β€” πŸ‘ 2    πŸ” 1    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Too scary to just swipe that away as if it was nothing!! You turn your back on your heart if you can't admit it felt nice to have a PM with (what seemed like) a soul for a while

01.07.2025 03:34 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Correct, the emotional healing it brought about did not heal the broken and intentionally oppressive politics!! Totally agree. And the systems suck, all of them, on purpose. But the emotional feelings of the time weren't nothing. The learning we did wasn't nothing.

01.07.2025 03:33 β€” πŸ‘ 3    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

One hope is that some people have been cultivating ideas for a long time. Mutual aid, community gardens, etc. The sad thing is the politics are designed to squash stuff that works. It might need to burn before new growth is possible. Sending respect and good wishes.

01.07.2025 03:30 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

I'm not sure about that. As a country, we touted "niceness" and never recognized atrocities against Indigenous. Trudeau did that for us, and despite other flaws, that was a healing thing for all Canadians

01.07.2025 03:18 β€” πŸ‘ 0    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

Thank you, that's helpful. Some folks have been pushing back on oppression for a long time, maybe I've forgotten what it feels like early on. But it's scary because it took me YEARS to get out of the "well, fuck, look at that!" Phase and into the action phase. I hope the timeline speeds up.

01.07.2025 03:13 β€” πŸ‘ 1    πŸ” 0    πŸ’¬ 1    πŸ“Œ 0

With due respect, it seems insane when Americans claim they didn't see the problem before now. It seems like shirking personal responsibility. Do you REALLY think the system was working before DT?
Not trying to attack, just frustrated and hoping for clarity. Please push back if I'm misguided.

The Liberals have maintained their vote share while the NDP and Greens are up, with the CPC down. This implies NDP voters left the Liberals to go back home, while centrists have left the Conservatives for the "natural governing party" #canada #cdnpoli #liberals #conservatives #markcarney
