During the 2024 presidential campaign, Donald Trump vowed he could stop Russia’s war on Ukraine with a single phone call.
“Apparently, after he was killed, Russian officials learned that his mother, Juliane Gallina, serves at the CIA. By giving Witkoff an award named for the first head of the Soviet state to pass on to a CIA employee, Putin appeared to suggest that the Soviet Union had won the Cold War after all.”

Has a character named Elias Vance come up for you when using Al?
I just completed a novella and lo, there was Elias Vance as a main character. Little did I know this dude is some kind of Al trope on the level of Not_ but _
_. Have you ever seen Elias Vance?

Hello friends, a quick break from the current story line with a preview of my first book and a question. The preview will be in comments but my question is, should I wait till it's finished to release it fully or release it chapter by chapter somewhere?

...
The world was dying, and Dr. Elias Vance was running out of time.
He sat in the sterile glow of his lab, exhaustion clinging to him like a second skin. The hum of machines filled the silence, a constant reminder that progress was slow-too slow. Outside, the city was unraveling. The news reports played on a loop: hospitals overflowing, governments scrambling, bodies piling up in makeshift morgues. The virus-an enemy unseen and unstoppable-was winning.
Failure. Again.

Thread from March 2021 on how if Dems do not hold Trump and his cohort accountable and address structural problems, then all the Biden admin wil be is an interlude between autocracies. Someone with better eyesight is welcome to retype it all by hand but I'm not doing that; thus alleged altvtexr system with a tiny box of type is not designed for people who are vision impaired like me
See other box
Everything happening now was obvious by March 2021. That's why I wrote about it *then*.
This matters because this is a planned autocracy. Feigned surprise at horrors is meant to rewrite history and present our plight as if it wasn't a plan obvious four years ago and countenanced by both parties.

Woman taken to hospital after car falls into sinkhole on Tanjong Katong Road | The Straits Times
Both directions of the affected road have been closed to traffic. Read more at straitstimes.com. Read more at straitstimes.com.
Just realised this was very close to where my friend used to live before university. There used to be the Amber Gardens condo and a mall that was re-developed from a HDB estate (?) Then even that was removed to make way for condos and roads. Now this. www.straitstimes.com/singapore/si...

Ending Crime and Disorder on America's Streets
By the authority vested in me as President by the Constitution and the laws of the United States of America, it is hereby ordered: Section 1. Purpose and
This is an executive order that lays the groundwork for sending homeless people and people with mental illness to concentration camps to be "civilly committed." It was never going to stop with immigrants.
This is horrifying beyond words.

Fossil fuel billionaires are bankrolling the anti-trans movement
An investigation shared exclusively with Atmos and HEATED finds that 80% of anti-trans organizations receive fossil fuel funding.
As @yessfun.com has reported, the fossil fuel industry directly funds anti-trans panic because it distracts the public from "the very real and ongoing risks that climate change creates.”

There is extensive evidence that the president of the United States is a serial sexual abuser of women and girls, and the media has not talked about it nearly enough.

Substack's new funding round, doubting Epstein drama amounts to much, and NYT columnists should shut up about Mamdani.
“We have a secret police and concentration camps now. We are demolishing our scientific and educational institutions. All of it is plainly illegal, right up until the Supreme Court again decides 6-3 that “eh, it’s fine so long as Trump is doing it.”” davekarpf.substack.com/p/bullet-poi...

The United States is using sexual violence as a political weapon. What are we going to do about it?
On the unnecessary body cavity searching and strip-searching of non-citizens, immigrants, and those in prison
“According to US Code 920-art.120, this was an act of abusive sexual contact, as it was forcing the woman to touch her sexual organs under threat [..] However, because the people in charge were CBP agents, it likely wasn’t illegal; body cavity searches don’t require a warrant”

How Hindi emerged as the lingua franca of the ‘Hindi Heartland’ at the cost of other languages
An excerpt from ‘The Hindi Heartland: A Study’, by Ghazala Wahab.
“Hindi is nobody’s mother tongue. We gave up our own languages to create a national language.” […] “Once the British linked Hindi with employment, people surrendered their languages.”
