Right before Christmas, might I add, when studios take much longer to get back to you for even an interview. The UK games industry has taken yet another huge hit, and it’s devastating to see. We’re NORMALISING this and it has to stop. We see the news and become desensitised to it, we move on from it and that’s that. Not me. I haven’t forgot the 4,000 games industry workers laid off in July, I haven’t forgotten the thousands before that, or the tens of thousands before that. Or what I went through. I’m so, so sorry to the ones going through this at Coatsink and Splash Damage. Remember; if you see someone looking for work, share their posts and recommend them for roles you’ve seen that might suit their skill set. Be part of the village.

While we’re at it; studios that have made redundancies in the last year shouldn’t be allowed to win a Game Award. They can be nominated, sure. But layoffs should be taken into consideration when it comes to actually winning.

I can’t believe that’s considered a hot take but it is.
