I'm white, he's white. I didn't think anything of it. His counselor came out about 20 minutes later and told me that he thanked her and wanted to have her thank everybody else in the clinic for treating him like a human.

But I wasn't a bombastic asshole about it like I am to some people in this platform. Mainly because I was at work and couldn't.

One day after he'd been coming in for a little over a year he made it a point to stop at my desk as they were taking him out to thank me and to tell me to have a good day.

I did my job. I treat everybody as ppl & don't get shitty w/them until they get shitty w/me. I was polite, we'd occasionally talk while waiting on the sheriff. Couple times he'd say something offensive & Id correct him. "That's absolutely not acceptable in my presence because [reasons]" kinda thing.

I used to work at a MH clinic that saw a lot of trustees. One stuck with me. When he first started coming in he was quiet, kind of aloof. He realized he fucked up in his life somewhere but he was still angry. Not about any one thing just... angry. Stars & bars tat on one side, swastika on the other.

A lot of them do or they split it amongst the staff and the ones that don't, they get taxed on it if you put it on your credit card. Which means they effectively get taxed on it twice.

It's always better to tip in person in cash.

As much as I hate tip culture, I will but not at those numbers. 25% max.

My issue is who am I tipping. It's one thing for me to tip when I go to a restaurant & I have somebody serving me. When I'm using a kiosk at Panera & it says would you like to leave a tip? Nah, miss me with that bullshit.
