If I learn from my mistakes, then I'm now a genius. Opinions are only valid when powered by critical thinking. Open minds, canoes and bicycles make me happy.

It's probably a good thing that the Blue Jays didn't win the World Series ๐Ÿ’”. Canada avoided another reactionary tariff increase by the US.

Imagine being someone who speeds a lot, knowing it can and does kill peopleโ€ฆ kids, parents, anyone.

Imagine hating a public policy (speed cameras) thatโ€™s proven to make those people saferโ€” safer from YOUโ€” because your law breaking costs u money, so you rant that itโ€™s a โ€œcash cow.โ€

So, is that you?

What you don't see in this photo:

Three parents who aren't stuck in a car.
Three parents who get their mornings back.

That's the invisible dividend of investing in infrastructure that provides safe, independent mobility for young people.

Separated Bike Lanes Means Safer Streets, Study Says โ€” Streetsblog USA Cities that build protected lanes for cyclists end up with safer roads for people on bikesย and people in cars and on foot, a new studyย of 12 large metropolises revealed Wednesday.

Another reminder that a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.

ALL ROAD USERS.

And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all.

For sharrows, itโ€™s actually safer to NOT have them.

Car tyres shed a quarter of all microplastics in the environment โ€“ย urgent action is needed Tiny flakes of plastic, generated by the wear and tear of normal driving, eventually accumulate in the soil, in rivers and lakes, and even in our food.

Every year, billions of vehicles worldwide shed an estimated 6 million tonnes of tire fragments. These tiny flakes of plastic, generated by normal driving, account for 28% of microplastics entering the environment globally.

Heavy vehicles eg SUVs/EVs especially.

I'm a technical writer so I see the need for 8th grade writing for my work.
But in the arts and literature, I say ignore that advice. English is too beautiful and rich a language to be constrained in such a way.
FWIW- I keep a list of new vocabulary for any books I read. Aspire to be exhalted๐Ÿ™‚
