The U.S. House of Representatives' reconciliation bill guts health care, restricts access to food, sacrifices our higher education system, and punishes immigrant families, all to provide more tax breaks for wealthy people and corporations. See our statement: www.clasp.org/press-room/p...

Current law already bars people without a documented immigration status from food assistance through #SNAP. And many people with lawful immigration statuses are also barred including adults who are lawful permanent residents in their first five years in the U.S.
16.05.2025 18:58 โ ๐ 238 ๐ 66 ๐ฌ 6 ๐ 3Congress shouldnโt pass this bill. Increasing the size of the #CTC without changing the structural issues that prevent families with low incomes from getting the full credit won't adequately reduce child poverty. And lawmakers shouldnโt impose eligibility restrictions for families with ITINs. (8/8)
14.05.2025 15:40 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 0 ๐ 0Lawmakers should make families with ITINs eligible for the #CTC. 14.05.2025 15:40 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The Ways and Means bill restricts access to the #ChildTaxCredit for parents who file taxes with an Individual Taxpayer Identification Number (ITIN). 14.05.2025 15:40 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0Making the #ChildTaxCredit fully refundable and available to families with little to no earnings would make it more equitable and better targeted at the families who need it most. 14.05.2025 15:40 โ ๐ 0 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0The #ChildTaxCredit reaches families when they file their taxes and provides parents with money to invest in their children.
