I'm generally in a condition of tremendous privilege, but it's hard not to sink into despair about how terribly things seem to be going in most places (at least, those of which a schmuck like me is aware).

I'm worried about every place's political outlook. I'm in a different situation, but still hoping to emigrate to France in 2028 - I would like to grow old and die in Europe rather than in the US or many/most other places I could consider. But France really has its problems...

Kinda funny, but I spent a few hours yesterday reading an Italian cookbook and could've guessed what bacalao was because of baccalá. I'd never heard of it before (I'm fairly uncultured), so it's just one of those amusing little synchronicities that no one will find interesting but me 🙂

I'm honestly amazed any podcasts don't fizzle out. Absolute bonkers amount of work and dedication needed. How the hell do humans get anything done? Y'all're getting things done? Is it just me? Fuck.

Starting to think this whole vertical subsidy laundering scheme that we're seeing now is just one of the "c'mon, this is just too ridiculously stupid to believe" storylines of late, intended to just absolutely detach the American mind from anything resembling reality through sheer absurdity.

Yeah, apparently. Super cool. I didn't know they made basses, but I had one of their nylon string guitars and one of their ouds for a while. Fantastic instruments. Smelled terrific.
