Snow hauling and removal operations are ongoing throughout #DC. The DC Snow team crews are actively working to clear large amounts of snowcrete and ice. We appreciate your patience, DC, as we keep working to clear the way.

Before heading out, clear snow and ice from your car, especially the roof, hood, windows, mirrors, lights, and license plates. Ice can slide off while driving, block visibility, and create dangerous conditions for all roadway users.

We're grateful to the District Snow Teams for working around the clock to respond to an unprecedented winter storm in Washington, DC.

Update on snowcrete removal efforts in the District:

• Teams continue to use heavy machinery to break up snowcrete
• More than 900 loads of snowcrete hauled off per day
• UMC is full; crews continue to use RFK and Carter Barron

The numbers are in: 4,000+ residents picked up free salt from our pop-up sites this weekend.

Salt—combined with sunlight, above-freezing temps, and continued work of crews across DC using heavy machinery—will help resolve remaining trouble areas in our neighborhoods this week.

Snow hauling operations are ongoing in DC as crews work to remove snowcrete. Over 900 loads are hauled daily to disposal sites like Carter Barron to ensure safer travel & restore full operations. Temporary lane closures may happen during work, so use caution near work zones & give crews space.

We are continuing the Snowcrete cleanup as our crews focus on clearing intersections, bike lanes, and streets throughout DC. Please travel safely and be cautious of icy spots. Thank you for your patience as we work to remove snow from neighborhoods.

We know teams have been working day and night the last 5 days to deliver after a storm that was really unprecedented in the way it presented in this region.

In DC, we got snow, and then ice, and then many more days of cold weather that has turned into almost concrete-like conditions.

Our approach remains: we focus on how we keep people safe and how we get open.

Ice and snow are not melting—so crews are hauling them to the RFK site.

As of this morning, the mound was two stories high and the length of two football fields.

The work continues to make sure our city is fully clear after DC's unprecedented winter storm.

Crews are using heavy machinery to break up snowcrete—with a focus on clearing buildup at intersections and curbs—and hauling it to the growing mound at the RFK site.

We're not building a recreation of The Wall from Game of Thrones.... But DPW & @ddotdc.bsky.social are hauling hundreds of tons of snow, ice, and "snowcrete" every hour as we work nonstop to clear roadways.

We’ve been busy overnight! You might notice our crews actively hauling piles of “snowcrete” from intersections and curbs to RFK. This effort is part of our commitment to improving travel conditions throughout the District. Thank you for your continued patience as we work through the cleanup.

Road conditions remain challenging after the storm. Check out Team Metro crews out in DC clearing bus bays and stops to restore service. We’re coordinating closely with DC, Maryland, & Virginia as work continues across the region. Thank you for your patience.

Snow and ice may narrow travel lanes, creating temporary one-lane streets during the morning commute. Yield to vehicles already passing through and wait for a clear lane before proceeding. Use caution, stay alert, and give crews space while traveling.
