Benito is a threat b/c he makes art so alluring and enjoyable you want to understand everything about it and then you end up learning about sugar and slavery and colonialism and the TaΓnos and Hawaii and then you probably have some thoughts of your own, and that's why art is powerful and dangerous

Absolutely. It’s not a β€œgood vote” no matter how bad the other side is.

He voted for Laken Riley. I know he’s got pressures but I’m not an outlier in thinking so. I’ll vote for whoever it is though.

He needs to vote better, but would be nice to see him in the mix.

WOW WOW WOW Mayor Mamdani names Stanley Richards as the new head of Dept of Corrections. Richards is the first formerly incarcerated person to lead the city’s jails.

I’m not disagreeing that bad shit is bad shit. But you’re wrong if you think it would have been the same. I see it every day, real actual noncitizens are being harmed who were not before. It’s just a fact.

There’s a lot of space between β€œhow Biden treated immigrants” (not fairly that’s for sure) and β€œwhat’s happening now” and it would have been great if people were as activated about ICE then as they are now.

What's happening in Minnesota is one reason the Reconstruction Amendments banned insurrectionists from holding office. Unfortunately, the originalists on the Supreme Court interpreted the plain language of the amendment to mean its opposite.

"What can Democrats actually do?"

- Vote against funding for ICE and DHS

- State that any ICE officers who commit crimes under Trump will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law

- Encourage cities and states to refuse to cooperate with ICE

- Explain ICE is part of Trump's tyranny

Nope! We got Trump because rather than doing the work to build support for better candidates in smaller races folks obsessed and called people names online, engaging in brinksmanship that benefitted Trump and his oligarch allies. I’m sure they loved it! And now I’m a disengaged voter too.
