It's the PTO moms and spreadsheet dads and other random-ass Minnesotans concerned for their neighbors. There is no one central organizing org, just a ton of people who give a shit. It's both beautiful that it's happening and laughable that anyone thinks there's some broader apparatus at work.

What's happening in Minnesota is one reason the Reconstruction Amendments banned insurrectionists from holding office. Unfortunately, the originalists on the Supreme Court interpreted the plain language of the amendment to mean its opposite.

Multiple officials of the US federal government are spending their day rather blatantly obstructing Minnesota law enforcement and covering up a murder.

One thing that irks me: people keep calling the folks on the streets in Minneapolis protestors. They are not generally there to protest, they are there to observe and document. This is the product of organizing and mutual aid. It is telling that these acts of citizenship are seen as protest!

Every victim of ICE is like “they were a mother of three who volunteered at the local youth soccer club and fostered dogs for adoption” and every one of their murderers is like “he had pre-diabetes, had two arrests for domestic violence, and dropped out of six different police training programs.”

Thinking a lot right now about this crisis of trust. It’s a new world for Americans to not be able to trust what their government tells them.
