Something that is telling to me is that you (slightly older than the guys in the National, a woman) gravitate towards that part of the line and I (white collar guy 15 years younger than them, their target audience when writing Alligator)gravitate towards the lyrics about being a stressed out sadboi

There’s like 10 or 15 national one-liners from otherwise lower-profile songs that just crush. “It’ll take a better war to kill a college ma like me.” “Tires and wired we ruin too easy.” Are my other two favorites.
