I continue to disagree with this. The goal of mass detention is mass deportations. A private prison company leasing 100 beds to ICE gets paid the same if the beds are filled by 100 people for a year each or 1,000 people for a few days each. They don't earn more with long-term detention.

I feel like no one actually remembers the context of that statement, because everyone seems to think she meant that we have to be nice to our opponents. And that's not what she said.

I hate that this is happening and it's certainly easier for me to say because I'm not giving up meals, but when more and more ground is given up, eventually SNAP itself will be the program the GOP moves to shut down instead of it being the pawn it is here and there will be no ground to fall back to.

Maybe my understanding is wrong here, but the SNAP cut off was not a product of Democrats trying to fight, but a tactic used by an administration and party willing to let people starve to get what they want. A tactic the courts are now saying is illegal and the electorate seems to reject.
