03.12.2025 15:28 β π 1 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Are the USTR hearings on #USMCA review being live-streamed anywhere?
03.12.2025 15:43 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Screenshot of the paragraph from the linked document reading "Ensure foreign nations pay their fair share for American innovation: The United States should leverage the Joint Review to fulfill the objective set forth in Section 3 of President Trumpβs May 12, 2025, Executive Order, which directed USTR and DOC to address foreign acts, policies or practices that have βthe effect of forcing American patients to pay for a disproportionate amount of global pharmaceutical research and development, including by suppressing the price of pharmaceutical products below fair market value in foreign countries.β7 Despite being one of the worldβs most developed economies, Canada employs a range of measures that artificially devalue medical innovations developed in the United States and limit and delay patient access to American-made innovative medicines. As a result, Canada spends only 0.32 percent of its GDP per capita on new innovative medicines, compared to 0.78 percent in the United States.8 USTR should require Canada to adopt binding and enforceable trade commitments to achieve an appropriate level of spending on new innovative medicines." with the last sentence highlighted
In an absolutely shocking turn of events, #PhRMA (Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America) believes, in their submission to the #USMCA/#CUSMA trade agreement review, that Canada should be paying more for medicines.

My request to appear at the USTR βHearings on the Operation of the USMCAβ has been granted.
I will appear later this week in Washington, DC.
As the only π¨π¦ industrial sector advocate among 150+ witnesses, I will be presenting data supporting a mutually-beneficial continuance.
As Canada lobbies for a speedy renewal of #CUSMA, a reminder that the review cannot legally commence until at least six months after USTR reports on its objectives in that review. There is no legal (or otherwise) obligation for Canada to do the same. #cdnpoli #canlab

Will Canada ignore human rights violations to advance free trade with Ecuador?
The Canadian government must not remain indifferent to the bloodshed and the incontrovertible reality of a grave human rights crisis in Ecuador.
