The graduate student, Oren Renard, a PhD candidate in computer science whose identity was confirmed by other students in the class, previously served in Israel’s elite military surveillance agency, Unit 8200, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Cornell is cancelling a distinguished professor's classes on Gaza and suspending him because of the complaints of a student who previously served in Israel's military surveillance agency and was literally recording the comments of other students in class and deliberately derailing discussion.

Matsuyama met Takamine on the set of TWENTY-FOUR EYES (1954), where he was working as an assistant director for director Keisuke Kinoshita. Matsuyama had been an avid fan of Takamine since he was four years old. At the time, assistant directors held a low status in Japan, and Matsuyama spent his days running around the set, polishing actors’ shoes and putting out their cigarettes. Takamine later reflected on her first impression of her now-husband in an interview with The New York Times: “When I first started watching him in the studio, he had no hair on his legs from running around so fast, and I said to myself: ‘This guy is a hard worker. Maybe he’ll be able to support me, and I can quit this business.’” They married in 1955, a year after the film’s release (Takamine had initially thought FLOATING CLOUDS would be her last film, but continued acting due to the financial stability).
