I do take pride in being trans. I do think it's an incredibly special experience to transition & shape yourself into the person you knew you were always meant to be. While there's a lot of things I wish were different, I refuse to let them make me hate myself for being this way

Look, definitely not telling people how to feel one way or the other, but if I had the choice between being born as a cis girl or being born in a society that had universal coverage for trans people & could have allowed me to transition at a much younger age, I'd choose the latter every time

Do you "hate being trans" or do you hate being trans in a profoundly transphobic society that makes it difficult to just exist as a trans person?

I can’t die until there’s a good show with a fat trans lesbian in it who is an important character and respected by the narrative and loved by her friends and people actually watch and like it

AI's being pushed so hard because it's scab technology. It completely undermines labour by threatening to replace it, regardless of the fact it consistently does a far worse job than actual humans. Bosses love the idea of replacing staff & contractors with it because it serves their class interests

Protests, if they are going to be effective, need to be disruptive. Moreover, smaller, dispersed protests happening simultaneously tend to be much harder for police to contain & kettle. The big mass marches just haven't produced the results we've wanted & I think it's time to acknowledge that

Before I get mistaken for being a doomer, I think it's in our best interests to think critically about the types of actions we participate in & also examine the type of narratives being sold to us about protests. "Only peaceful ones work," & reducing the entire civil rights movement down to protests

This is not to say there's no value to these types of protests, they can be good grounds to meet & network with people for future, more disruptive actions, but our government just ignored two straight years of massive protests against genocide. They think of them as a release valve, not a threat

But they're not banning them. They're heavily restricting them, as part of a pattern of only allowing a narrow range of protest activity. Most protests people attend are cop escorted marches, they aren't disruptive to the status quo

Any Australian feeling smug about ICE in particular should take a second to think about how refugees have been treated by our government, all the way back to Woomera (which opened in 1999) to Manus & Nauru. Our cops & our border policies have always been completely fucked to say the least

Everything will seem scary at first, but trust me, it gets easier with time. I boymoded the first year I was on HRT & was quite scared to go out in public, but I worked on it little by little & eventually the need to be myself outweighed any fear I felt. Courage is a muscle, you can build it 💜

Recommend finding any trans femme online groups (avoid reddit at all costs) & trying to forge connections with other trans people & trans women especially. Having some sense of community, even if it's only online at first, will help a lot. I wouldn't be here today if it weren't for other trans women

Also just tell her to take her time & to experiment with what makes her feel good in regards to clothes, makeup & presentation. Cis girls get big periods where they can figure out who they are as teenagers & that's where she's starting from, so tell her to be kind to herself throughout that

If she feels comfortable, highly recommend starting on laser hair removal/electrolysis sooner rather than later. That process takes time & she'll be glad she got on it quickly. Also recommend looking up voice training videos, that can also take time to really settle into (neither are mandatory)
