I’ve been looking at tri-fuel generators as an interim solution but frankly nervous about being 100% reliant on electricity given how often we lose power. Too many trees to do solar.

We lost power for 36 hours recently - luckily not during the last cold snap. But 50 degrees in the house was not good. If it had happened during the last storm, we’d have been looking for a hotel and taking the dog to a kennel.

Do you have a battery back up if you lose power?

I still think my Canadian husband is right that cities and towns should plow the sidewalks and treat them as a public good for which government is responsible. That’s how they do it in Canadian “cities.” Even pretty suburban ones.

I really hate the ones at North Station. If you’re running late because the green line got backed up, the back up at those fare gates can be the difference between making your train and waiting an hour for the next one.
