26.10.2025 15:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yesterday I was reminded of this #art piece I was commissioned to make a few years ago, extending the boundaries of stained #glass by setting Little Grebes (aquatic #bird species) in an open-edge panel to represent the habitat where they are most freeβ¦
Should I make more like this?
Would you mind my posting a picture or two? I wonβt tag you (unless youβd like me to of course) but Iβm working on ideas for a couple of other βedgelessβ pieces at the moment π€
21.10.2025 07:35 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Lovely to hear from you! Thank you so much - I was just looking at my photos of the grebes a couple of days ago, and wondering how they were getting on π

21.10.2025 07:31 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Hi Tracey - thank you! The base is Snowdonia slate, from a quarry just outside Blaenau Ffestiniog. I work with a local engineering shop when I need stand armatures, they are very good at shaping weird bits of steel to precise plans π
21.10.2025 07:30 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0A joyful moment that never gets old: someone loves my Godwit enough to offer the ultimate accolade to an artist - to take it home!
#art is a piece of soul made visible, in metal and stone and #glass. Welcome to my heart-family, unknown friend- and enjoy the effects of light on the glassβ¦
If you love #glassart or #birds or are already following my #art (hi and I love you) the SWLA @ Mall galleries opens next week, and my Black-tailed Godwit #sculpture will be there - online preview (sculpture page - scroll down for the Godwit!) here buyart.mallgalleries.org.uk/swla-2025/?_...

βCritically Endangeredβ Slender-billed Curlew, imagined in transparent and translucent textured stained glass
I create birds in stained glass, mostly as freestanding or wall sculptures, rarely as window panels. They may be celebrations, explanations, rants or tears but like the birds that inspire them, they are all beautiful dancers-with-lightβ¦

13.07.2025 12:19 β π 33 π 6 π¬ 3 π 0Some pieces come together quickly, and some take a few iterations to grow to maturity. The Herring Gulls piece, βWe Were Angelsβ, gathers towards its finale; glowing with a little sunlight as I adjust the hanging points and sight lines to make sure they balance each other.
28.04.2025 15:22 β π 14 π 2 π¬ 2 π 0As the Yule (star)dust begins to settle, tomorrow will be a good day to get back into my studio and pick up my stained glass #WIP βUrban Angelsβ once more. They are still burning in my head and heart and hands, not quite fully materialised just yetβ¦
27.12.2024 17:52 β π 11 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Someone needs to invent some kind of online calculator whereby we Brits can put in our recent healthcare appointments/meds/experiences and itβll calculate what it would cost on average in the USA. Just to hammer home how bloody lucky we are to have the NHS and how fiercely we need to protect it.

17.11.2024 19:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0It was huge fun to make - and totally inspired by that *perfect* glassβ¦ I was trying for the look and feel of a plate in an old bird guide, those lovely paintings where the birds *just happen* to be showing you all their ID features by accident π

13.11.2024 21:47 β π 12 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0In true multitasking style, this weekend involved a lovely long rustling walk (beech leaves and Brambling), design work on a Herring Gull piece, forward planning for a Goshawk piece, design work on an Orchidarium (so I can grow some high-humidity miniature lovelies) and cheesecake. Keto cheesecake.
