Gotta say, watching Johnny Knoxville rent a car in real life is surreal when you've watched Jackass: The Movie dozens of times.

On similar note, I spent most of my life thinking that the closing line of "Thunder Road" was "It's a town full of losers, boy, and I ain't here to win!" And while that doesn't make the most sense in that song, it's a sentiment that feels like home and makes a lot of sense in this story.

I don't know if LIGHT OF DAY is the "best" version of this movie, but it is the right one. Cleveland in the '80s isn't glamorous, nor is being in a band that peaks at bars. Everything about this movie knows that, and its faults really drive it home.

I really value the honesty here.

This is, by no means, the first time I have thought about this. I have just been watching a lot of rust belt movies lately and am not really excited to go back to Cleveland in a few days and see all of the cheap ways the strong, rustic charm of the city has been ripped out to make it look "nicer."
