They make some interesting points, but I don’t know if any of the people in Metabunk are actually experts on astronomical plate imaging from the 50s? That’s who would be most qualified to assess all this imo.

I love symphonic metal/rock music, but somehow missed The Rock Orchestra until now (which started in 2020)! A rotating collective of musicians combining classical, rock and metal music with gothic visuals. This cover of Zombie by The Cranberries, with Erin Fox, is amazing. 😲

Had a dream last night that I was seeing live close-up video of 3I/ATLAS. It was a huge sphere with many little tubes or nozzles around its middle. They started emitting a lot of vapor or gas of some kind. And then a larger one shaped like a horn did the same thing. πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ˜―

In regards to the exciting but still-potential discovery of evidence for ancient microbial life on #Mars, if I have to choose between random internet β€œexperts” and the nearly 90 scientists listed in the peer-reviewed paper, I’m going to go with the scientists actually involved.

NASA Says Mars Rover Discovered Potential Biosignature Last Year - NASA A sample collected by NASA’s Perseverance Mars rover from an ancient dry riverbed in Jezero Crater could preserve evidence of ancient microbial life. Taken

NASA's press release about the Sapphire Canyon sample obtained by the Perseverance rover in July 2024. It's the rock with the "leopard spots" and "poppy seeds" spots that *might* be evidence of ancient microbial life. The paper is now peer-reviewed. 🦠

I really didn’t like what Charlie Kirk stood for. BUT, murdering him was not the answer! He now has a grieving wife and young kids. There’s way too much violence as it is in this world. I see some cheering his death and MAGA declaring β€œwar.” This madness has to end, but I know it probably won’t.

It’s certainly still possible that there’s an abiotic explanation, but the scientists involved said it’s less likely now with the results in the new (peer-reviewed) paper.

The NASA Mars press briefing on Wednesday is about the same rock sampled in July 2024 with the β€œleopard spots” and β€œpoppy seeds” markings on it. Those were identified as potential biosignatures, so the briefing on Wednesday will be an update on that apparently. πŸ€”πŸ˜―

This article in New Scientist is good, too, with quotes from @distantworlds.space. So *maybe* a thin nitrogen atmosphere, like Earth has? 15 more transit observations planned for over the next year, to help figure it out. 😯

NASA: Ceres May Have Had Long-Standing Energy to Fuel Habitability The dwarf planet is cold now, but new research paints a picture of Ceres hosting a deep, long-lived energy source that may have maintained habitable conditions in the past.

"The finding supports theories that this intriguing dwarf planet, which is the largest body in the main asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter, may have once had conditions suitable to support single-celled lifeforms." 🦠
