2) VK reduction occurs on the luminal side of the ER membrane, so it is really hard to understand how this flipped GGCX will be able to access its cofactor from the cytosolic site.

My lab works on GGCX and VK, and I was very surprised when I read that paper. There are several issues with the proposed model: 1) We never detected carboxylated protein in the cytosol in any of our proteomic screens.

For scientists, the challenge of bringing science from the lab to the patient's bedside is enormous. The Office of Research Transfer supports discoveries so they become innovative therapies.
After completing a thesis in molecular biology, Sarah Nahlé chose to focus on research transfer. For the past month and a half, she has been completing a stimulating internship at the IRCM's Office of Research Promotion.
🔬 "[…] supporting researchers in the promotion of their discoveries is something I'm extremely interested in."
Her goal? To bridge the gap between science and industry to transform advances into concrete solutions for patients. A mission that is a core priority for the IRCM.
👏 Congratulations, Sarah, on this promising career path!
