In my area, you can't even buy a house for the list price. They get multiple bids over the list with promises to skip inspections.

We sold our last home 7 years ago to someone who bid over asking and no inspection. I know it's gotten worse since then from friends who have tried to buy a house.

I guess I have to "git gud" or whatever, but Doom: The Dark Ages is pretty awful. Who decided to turn a game about franticly shooting demons into one where you have to block, dodge, and reflect bolts back at even low-level mooks?

The vast majority of open source contributors are unpaid volunteers who, more likely than not, are users of the software there contributing to. So I'm really not sure what point you're trying to make.

The software development industry is killing the junior developer with layoffs and AI. I'm lucky to already be past that point & foresee that cleaning up vibe coding messes will keep me gainfully employed til retirement.

But I miss mentoring, coaching, and frankly, handing off more rote tasks.

Every time I've tried to have it do something prolific, it gets stuck or does something I have to tweak. And I get nervous about it slinging dozens of files I have to go review.

We were using it to do a code kata the other day and it introduced a situation where it put configuration files in a directory that the framework required to be empty. It got stuck in a loop of not being able to put the configs anywhere else until the framework finished setting up.

Gonna quote this post the next time engineers are fighting over tabs vs. spaces...
