They are trying to provoke a response that they can use to crack down even harder. It's important not to give them an excuse, while also using every non-violent means at our disposal to fight back.

This is something the left in general needs to do. Part of the reason we keep losing is that we are not offering an inspiring vision of the future, just a defense of the status quo.

Lately, I have noticed an increasing tendency to portray the 1960s as so violent that it could have become a second civil war. Which is weird because 1) It’s just not true, and 2) It was a watershed decade for nonviolent revolution.

A few of them, like Hegseth and Bondi, are true believers in the man himself. More of them (like Vaught, Miller, and the ones who don’t make headlines that often) are ideologues with agendas and Trump offered them a chance to do the things they wanted but know are deeply unpopular.

I haven’t read anyone making this argument forcefully and explicitly, but the Republican Party is now, effectively MAGA. They might lose some support and enthusiasm when Trump keels over, but that’s why they are taking steps now to ensure they won’t lose power.

ICE admits that up to 50% of arrests in its Chicago raids are "collateral.” These aren't statistics. They are parents taken from their children, neighbors taken from our communities. When does a "collateral" U.S. citizen child's trauma matter? This isn't law enforcement; it's a campaign of terror.

Keep taking videos of what ICE is doing. @govpritzker.illinois.gov is right, document what’s happening. This is why they hate journalists so much.
