Overconsumption is KILLING our planet

“Better suited for” is a common tell for sexism and misogyny. It’s annoying, exhausting, and it perpetuates outdated and oppressive systems.

Katie doesn’t have *this* experience, but she’s smart, well resourced, adept at building coalitions. She is going to make a great mayor.

YES

All of us who are US citizens suffer from moral injury from the things done in our name, including the denial of basic needs this country can well afford to address, including healthcare to all immigrants. It would heal that moral injury to do this; it's an ethical act, not just a practical one.

Small nonprofit budget and Wilson got us:

-$1.5B in tax the rich revenue for affordable housing, etc.
-free transit for kids and human services appointments, low fare for low income
-big min wage increases in 3 places
-renter protections around the region

Harrell had billions and did far less.

I'm biased, but, he's correct. McGinn did an excellent job as mayor. He ran the city competently, scandal-free, and left the city better off financially than he found it. That's in large part *because* he was an outsider, not beholden to the usual insiders, devoted instead to public service.

Time and time again, Trump and MAGA Republicans will sell out their own voters — all to fund massive tax cuts for the super rich.

Swear her in.

Overnight, Trump and Republicans in Congress shut down the federal government.

They shut it down because they’re determined to strip healthcare from millions of Americans, to enrich the billionaires they serve, to continue the assault on our rights.

We must fight back.

Republicans control the House, the Senate, and the White House. Convincing colleagues to vote with them is the literal job of politicians - if they can’t do that, they can’t do their jobs. They own this shutdown and all of the consequences.

All those generals and senior officers flown in from their actual jobs, at enormous taxpayer expense, only to listen to two idiots blathering in ways that defy credulity. Their group chats must be on fire.

Ultimately, they moved this project forward, subject to future conditions to be imposed later. For a city whose mayor and council say they support more housing, addressing food deserts, and more child care, we sure do everything in our power to prevent any of those things from getting built.

The GOP Effort to Hide the Epstein Files Just Hit a Disgusting New Low Republicans are attempting to delay swearing in a recently-elected Democratic member of Congress so she can’t become the tie-breaking vote to release the Epstein files.

Congresswoman-elect Adelita Grijalva would be the deciding signature to force a vote to release the Epstein files.

They think “average Americans” only care about healthcare premiums, not funding ICE or ICE kidnapping your neighbors or bombing civilians in boats or tear-gassing protestors or or or

It’s supremely disappointing how little they get it.

This feels significant.

We need more people actively digging into this massive cover-up.

Harrell's response, belittling the work of non-government advocates in crafting, pushing for, and passing the progressive payroll tax, speaks to his contempt for community advocates over government insiders.

He’s a misogynist and he’s angry he’s having to defend his position.

I loved Pete as Sec of Transportation, but some of his comments lately are very 2019 in his efforts to walk a centrist line and pander to Dems who are not progressive. This makes them not centrist, but conservative. We need serious progressives right now. Anyone else is ill equipped for the moment.

I needed this post after seeing that Buttigieg endorsed Harrell (!) I am livid.

I am so over Dems who do not understand the housing emergency we are in - in Seattle and across the US. Harrell’s supporters are not about transit either, Pete.
