My mom and her friends are finally retired, so they have the time to be in the streets, and they are PISSED! It’s about time.

Even at my library you have to schedule 6+ weeks out and have insurance. It’s like they don’t want people to use the buildings…

Every Monday I facilitate an English conversation class for speakers of other languages at my library. I always tell them how happy I am that they’re there and how our class is full of kind people. I love when they make friends. I am proud that I’m giving folks a safe space where they feel welcome.

For sure! That is a nice neighborhood. I used to work on 18th & Everett, but lived south a bit on Morrison. Small world : )

I lived in a 400 sq ft studio in downtown Portland for $535 in 2007. Ten years later when I moved back downtown it was $1200. Now I work in Manhattan but live in North Jersey. Everything is so expensive.

When I see people online, even in jest, suggest that people living in Republican-controlled states should be abandoned because of their politicians, I feel a deep heartache. New York CREATED Donald Trump and none of y’all are ever talk about it the way you disparage Alabama or Mississippi.

The thing about investing in public transit is that it *scales* β€” the more people use it, the better it gets. For everyone.

Whereas the more cars there are, the *worse* everything about driving gets. Traffic. Parking.

[Ever noticed that in just about every car ad it’s alone on the road? Yeah.]

We need the Council to significantly increase library funding to pay workers more. This is essential.

Donald Trump’s flute-playing career cut short: β€˜I didn’t particularly like it, wasn’t for me’ The US President has claimed that he β€œcould have been a flutist”.

β€œBut I do have an ear for music,” the president insisted. β€œI play great music. People like the music I play.”

In my experience, Yamaha keyboards are solid and don’t come with the excessive bells and whistles that you won’t need (like a Nord for example). My boyfriend is a professional pianist with a Steinway Concert Grand, yet prefers a cheap KORG when he uses headphones. There’s no need to spend a ton!

I want a politics that widens the circle to include everyone, not one that shrinks the circle by throwing *undesirables* under the bus. I think this is basic. I am interested in a politics that is rooted at the sources of people's suffering. I am interested in a politics that attends to basic needs.
