Our kids mostly watch most Bluey/Gabby/Cocomelon type stuff but I fired up some Looney Tunes this morning. A three-year old boy’s reaction to seeing Yosemite Sam get shot in the face with a cannon for the first time in the best.

One of them died when I was five but he had a convenience store and would always give me chocolate candy footballs when I can in. I’ll still get one sometimes and they taste the same.

Love that last anecdote about Bruce helping him after the LA fires. Reminds me of the moment in the documentary about Zevon recording his last album where he says “The thing about Bruce is he’s exactly the guy you hope he is.”

The world is a shitshow but @danagould.bsky.social Halloweenery podcast just dropped and this year’s is over four hours long. One hour in and it’s a delight, as always.

Unsolicited advice: if you get time (and if they’re having it in light of the show), the Ryman backstage tour is wonderful.

Wife out of town, both kids needed to poop simultaneously. This is what feels like to be an ER doc in an understaffed hospital after a highway pileup.

Life as a single father isn’t easy, but I find a way even in the midst of struggle (Wife is out of town for 24 hours; son wants me to build a Lego tower with him while I’m trying to empty the dishwasher and listen to Jimmy Buffett).
