Now they just need to go jab their fingers at the WHPA to stiffen their spines a bit.

This is a powerful enough visual on its own. Now imagine the visuals if they decide to remove it.

@schumer.senate.gov and @hakeemjefferson.bsky.social do not approve of such zesty language. Tut tut, you must always be civil, especially to those who would be your oppressors.

I don't know what to conclude from the fact that we're here with zero pushback from the @democrats.org that they're just fine with it.

I dove into the article for one other, crucial data point:
WaPo's circulation before it went to shit was ~250k; a 61% loss.

Right?! Biden was no saint in all this, but we knew back then that there was no way Netanyahu would give him any kind of win (which made it all the more exasperating when we kept sending them weapons, especially offensive ones)!

The frogs only work right now because Trump and his goons have been trying to look cool. It's a fragile balance that could collapse if they change tactics.

I don't know, Mr. Onion, that kinda sounds like fun.

It's still f***ed up! And while there are some who legit think Trump is some kind of God-king, Johnson's not one of them; he's a classic fundamentalist. And in that system, leaders are not to be questioned, because they speak for God.

I came here to disagree with her about Donald Trump being God, but upon listening to her, that wasn't what she was saying.
She was saying "...obedient to his authority, (gestures to show level) who is Donald Trump, (gestures to higher level) who is God. She was showing the hierarchy.

I'm late to this, but was reminded to tip you to @bradleyonishi.bsky.social's analysis by today's mailbox episode. It's really good, and helped resolve some of the apparent contradictions I'd been grappling with:

It's only working right now because the admin has been doing things to look cool, making shitposting (i.e. all the mocking inflatable animals) an effective response. It's a delicate balance; either side could disrupt it.

This is insane. It is precisely the times when you haven't fully resolved an issue that you explain the nuances behind your decision! Just issuing a decision with no explanation seems MORE final, not less!

This might also explain how Trump and MAGA shitposted their way past stuff like the briefly cool brat summer and dark Brandon aura farming memes during the election.

The Frog is the best thing to happen to American politics all year, but the fact that politics has devolved into Posting is ultimately a bad thing. As you can see in the grid of outcomes, the majority of the time, people are simply posting at each other instead of engaging with reality or solving collective action problems. The question of who wins or who loses in Triangle Posting Politics is divorced from material conditions, justice, or the common good.

Room 237 (2012) ⭐ 6.2 | Documentary 1h 42m | Not Rated

Most of the Shining documentary 'Room 237' was kinda dumb, but I found the theory about Kubrick tying the hotel's haunting to the genocide of Native Americans pretty compelling. And it cast the elevator blood scene in a horrifying new light.

I always imagined this could be fertile ground for clever, subtle sci-fi. Stuff like "someone figures out that the reproducibility crisis is because some universal constant changed a little out from under us, and now everyone's freaking out about what it could mean and where it leads."

Oh I'm definitely thinking about it, being a late-mid career engineer. But also thinking about the older family friend, a retired engineer who spends his days using generative AI to study the book of Revelation.
