So... *sigh*... I have so many issues with the ally flag.

That said, I did get a really cool button today.

I really want to like Bluesky. I want a place that feels right, allows me to grow and discover new people, and feels like I belong.

But right now I feel like I don't belong anywhere, especially politically. It feels like we've gone full tribalist and anyone who doesn't fit isn't welcome.

Oh well.

Which #ME02 liberal populist / progressive is going to run as an independent in 2026 vs. @golden.house.gov?

Let's let ranked choice voting really do its thing.

Dude, you weren't elected to be a state legislator. I have a lot of faith in Maine, too. But do you honestly believe the government in states like Texas and Alabama and Tennessee won't do absolutely everything in their power to disenfranchise those who don't agree with the people who are in power?

Do you think it should be harder for Americans to vote?

If it were your active mission to destroy the geopolitical standing of the United States, I don't know how you could do a more effective job than the current administration short of, like, invading Switzerland or nuking the Vatican.

Apple CEO Tim Cook: This Is the No. 1 Reason We Make iPhones in China (It's Not What You Think) China is much more than a source of low-cost, low-skilled labor.

"And [labor cost] is not the reason to come to China from a supply point of view. The reason is because of the skill, and the quantity of skill in one location and the type of skill it is."

We dont talk about this piece enough in the tariff conversation.

Even if you think the *concept* of tariffs isn't horrible (though I disagree), who would want to do business with us in the future?

Sounds like an April 1 thing, but no. Yes, shocker, porn isn't always what you think it is.

Anyway. True story: you can go on freelancer marketplaces and find jobs in the developing world that pay (literally) a few bucks an hour and a small percentage of sales to do this.

The spirit of this seems good but it drops the ball on messaging, as liberal stuff so often does.

If you can't broadcast up front how doing this will benefit average Americans in a single post, you're leaving a ton of opportunity to convince people on the table.

White House Correspondents’ Association cancels comedian headliner for annual dinner The group's board unanimously decided it would no longer feature a comedic performance, WHCA President Eugene Daniels wrote in an email Saturday.

Amber Ruffin is an absolutely incredible comedian, and since the WHCA is a cowering feckless organization hellbent on betraying the American people through the dereliction of its duties, she should write a set herself and perform it on her own. Or stream it. I'd pay to watch.

We absolutely SHOULD ditch COBOL. Recoding government systems has a ton of benefits.

But I don’t care HOW good of a coder you are – rushing a job like this will lead to years of severe damage that will cost taxpayers a lot of money to fix.

There’s a right way and a wrong way.

You’d run into some article 1 section 10 challenges there, but there’s a chance Congress might be up for it (or perhaps there’s the possibility of getting creative, like we do with electrical grid stuff). www.law.cornell.edu/constitution...

Just for "fun" I listened to Levin on the radio last night while I was driving.

Everyone should listen to conservative radio every once in a while. It's nonsensical, but hearing what's on the plate of the media diet of other people is so illuminating.

I pre-write the messages I leave for Collins and Golden and keep them in a note on my phone, and going back through them I can see how much my writing has improved over the last couple of months.

tbh I’m pretty proud of the messages I’m leaving lately.

On the other site, Studio Ghibli-style AI output is going viral and allow me to just say it is profoundly depressing to see that stuff being used to promote OpenAI's latest product. Miyazaki famously called AI-produced art "an insult to life itself"β€”and this in turn is an insult to him.
