Measles is one of those nightmare diseases that, if it hadn't been killing people for hundreds of years, people would ABSOLUTELY be pushing conspiracy theories about right now. It's too nasty in too many different directions to seem natural. But oh, boy, it sure is.

1/ The US is losing its vaccine infrastructure. Before the US became a military power, we had to conquer infectious disease. That was key. When disease was controlled, we decoupled it from the military. That let us forget that infectious diseases threaten national security. We're about to learn why.

BREAKING: The House passed the so-called SAVE America Act which threatens to upend our freedom to vote.

The bill could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters by requiring documents like passports or birth certificates to register to vote and forcing voter roll purges. The Senate must reject it.

I don’t mind Gallup leaving the individual politician polling game. But, if they’re getting out, they’d better stay out. Don’t come back in 3 years (or, after the mid-terms) with micro-polling of every Dem in power.

In the 1950s, white folks chose to close public swimming pools rather than share them with Black folks. In 2024 they chose to sacrifice the lives of some of their nearest and dearest rather than having a Black or Brown neighbor. Absolutely fucking WILD set of values.

People are right to be incensed, but there are more names to uplift. ICE killed an immigrant man named Silverio Villegas González in Chicagoland. He had children. Victor Manuel Diaz was kidnapped in Minneapolis and died in ICE custody on January 14. Their names deserve to be repeated, too.

White Americans are learning once again that the *only* thing that has ever made you safe from fascism is being willing to sacrifice non-white people. That is your contract with white supremacy. "Give us someone else so it won't be you."
