An early example of Lisa Kleypas' writing, prior to the publication of her first novel in 1987. Her review of the novelization of the movie "Jewel of the Nile" appeared in Romantic Times #26 (January/February 1986).

Looking at my copy of LOVE'S TENDER FURY by Jennifer Wilde (Tom E. Huff, 1938-1990) it's astonishing to see inside on the copyright page that my 4th Printing edition came out the same month as the 1st Printing! Wikipedia says the book "had 41 printings in its first five years."

Noticed today that a local library had some "mystery bags" of paperback books for sale, so I gave them a $5 bill and took home three bags. It was mostly a bust, but one of the bags did have a first printing of Janet Dailey's first Harlequin release, "No Quarter Asked."

Michal Ann Perry Read the obituary of Michal Ann Perry from Dallas, TX. Leave your condolences to the family on this memorial page.

Lots of comments on this funeral home page from people who knew her. I feel a bit bad now for wondering who the heck she was, but I'd honestly never heard of her before. Still a bit odd to me that Falk mentioned her in the same breath as Nora Roberts, etc. www.restlandfuneralhome.com/obituaries/m...

You know, this is a good example of the continuing value of something like The Romantic Spirit, even in this digital age where "everything" is online. Web searches didn't take into account a nickname, and no alphabetical list (by last name) of all romance authors to look up online (that I know of).

Yep I checked FictionDB before posting it, as well as Goodreads, and got nada. I'm wondering if the inclusion of an unfamiliar name was some kind of in-joke? Or maybe it was a case of a new up-and-coming writer at the time who was generating hype but didn't actually publish anything? :-)

In ROMANTIC TIMES #48 (Feb./March 1988) Kathryn Falk in her editorial mentions various romance novelists who are making the genre exciting. I've heard of all of the authors that she names, except one. Who the heck was Micki Perry?

Went to the used-book sale at a local library yesterday where they had these shelves filled with paperback books for free. I ended up taking home around 80 of them, almost all romance novels. The books were free for the taking, but I gave them a $5 bill donation anyway.

A Scoundrel for the Suffragist - Harlequin.com

Next year, Harlequin Historical will have a novel featuring a suffragist for the heroine. (Not for the first time, of course.) I always find it interesting when real-life (and still relevant) politics are reflected in romance novels. www.harlequin.com/shop/books/9...

Over the past two days I've listed four lots on eBay of British TV series on DVD that I've decided to part with. You can view Lot #1 at the link below. In the description, I also note how much I myself had originally paid for each DVD set on eBay, around 10 years ago. www.ebay.com/itm/20574420...

Yes, I also recommend thrift stores for VCRs, which is where I bought my current one. My TV set up includes a VCR, a DVD player, a Bluray player, a DVD recorder/player and a Region 2 DVD player. I switch around the cables as needed when viewing each device.

My latest blog post is my attempt at an index of Signet's RAINBOW ROMANCE line (1968-1973). There were apparently 74 books and I'm missing the names of 14 of them. The funny thing is that I don't think I actually own a book in this line. robimes.blogspot.com/2025/09/an-i...

This auction for NIGHT SONG by Beverly Jenkins is now up to $334.10 so far. Which is odd, since it's apparently not even a First Printing (it appears to be a 7th printing, looking at the photo of the copyright page) and with dinged corners. www.ebay.com/itm/30647807...
