My husband and his sister survived their childhood due to food stamps, and government food like cheese blocks. A forested autumn road with ferns, evergreens, and vine maples. The maple leaves are thinning and beginning to change from green to yellow and orange. Many fallen brown and yellow leaves have accumulated along the edges of the road, which narrows between two larger trees, bends slightly and then fades into the distance.

Pretty drive home from work today.
