An infographic which contrasts population distribution with respect to wealth distribution. Population distribution has a distribution similar to a point-up thumbtack, although the base is rounded and the spike tapers to a point at the top. Wealth distribution has a similar shape, but point down. The infographic illustrates that the vast majority of the population owns only a tiny fraction of total US wealth, while a very few people own the vast majority of wealth.

About 5 yrs ago I was looking at one of those “wealth pyramid” charts, and realized it was visually very misleading. So I made a new infographic that visually shows population vs wealth. I just updated it with the latest from the Federal Reserve, and it is even more extreme than before.

Oh, it’s easy to tell the difference. ICE agents weigh a lot more.

Oh! We registered our march from the ferry terminal to Seattle Center as an event. When we got off the water taxi, there were already about 400 or so waiting for us. Then the Bainbridge ferry arrived, then the West Seattle water taxi. So already about 1000, then more and more joined as we went.

Guess I should’ve looked at the post date!🤪. So the Oct 18 estimate for “on Vashon” is around 700; 400 in Seattle; some went to Tacoma and a few to Olympia. So something just over 1100, or 10% of the population here.
