I’m on holiday which means that I’m using it to research potential holidays to Japan

Is it just me or has Instagram’s algorithm become worse than ever before? I know it’s based off content i consume but it feels like it’s got more like Twitter

The ‘Chicken Nugget Club’ sounds like a top tier political faction in all fairness

I’m reading the Tim Shipman Brexit books and honestly the number of political breakfast clubs named after days of the week is destroying my will to live

Top Tier: Gang of Four

Bottom Tier: The Independent Group for Change -> Change UK (with the silly font)

I think there should be a competition for most boring political faction/grouping name.

I’ve always found the 1922 Committee an underwhelming name given its importance in British politics.

Labour societies stop organising all your winter receptions on the same day challenge 😭😭

He had known all along and had found it hilarious so had changed his speech to mess with the students before continuing with what he wanted to actually say.

We took a picture with him afterwards with a few members worse for wear.

An absolute political giant who will definitely be missed.

He clearly noticed and with classic Prescott style turned to us, pointed and went “I see you, I see you laughing there”.

To our horror, he turned to the MP and said “Ian, is this the point you wanted me to go ‘Blair, Blair, Blair, Blair, Blair’?”.

Rumbled.

Either way, it was a good speech and a very funny one. He kept talking about ships and, given the game, members of the table were slowly capsizing with giggles.

Clearly proud of ourselves, someone shared it with the MP and MSPs gathered there.

Once Prescott kicked off his speech, he starts talking about his time working on ships (Gulp).

Then he starts walking and talking around the room - which was difficult when the microphone was in a fixed spot.

Fundraising events are tricky at the best of times and so a clever medic called Sid devised a fun drinking game for all the assembled Edinburgh Labour Srudenfs.

Every time Prescott said ‘Blair’ it was one drink, ‘ships’ was two, ‘eggs’ was three. There were other ones I’ll pretend not to remember.

As a Labour Party member you often remember some of the best and worst fundraising events that you go to. My favourite has to be the Burns Night in 2017 where John Prescott was the guest speaker.

Also started watching ‘Don’t trust the B- in apartment 23’ and honestly it’s underrated. Can’t stop laughing and cancelled way too early.

Finally finished ‘Nobody Wants This’ and I really enjoyed it. Can’t wait to ask about it at the next ‘Ask a Rabbi’ session at synagogue.

I think my experience of endlessly studying the Tudors/Stuarts/World Wars for 9 years was enough to almost put me off history. I was incredibly lucky that I got a teacher in Y9 who made me love the subject which convinced me to stay in his class. To your point, history has to be taught well.

In 2020 a group of former students from my year group signed a petition directed at the school complaining that the British Empire hadn’t been taught and demanded that it was going forward.

It actually was taught for GCSE+A level but they had all dropped History the moment they had the chance.

There were two people next to me at lunch who simultaneously got their calorie tracking apps when the food arrived and started loudly talking about how many calories each food item was. What a miserable way to live.

Honestly I’ve been holding onto my presence in the previous place for sentimental reasons but it should be brought down at this point (it’s also not the first time I’ve seen something like that happen)

You can almost predict the rest of the season from here: Ten Hag gets sacked just after Christmas, van Nistelrooy looks after United until the end of the season, Ipswich get relegated and Kieran McKenna is appointed the new manager by July

One of the best things the BBC has done is recommissioning new episodes of Animal Park. One of my favourite shows as a kid and now 20 years on it’s so lovely and wholesome 🦁🐆🦭
