A shy bird of made of wires. Ever early; eats no worms. Writing, language games, some Esperanto. Remember me from school? Pronouns: surprise me. Flyover country, Northern Hemisphere wires by my friend Cindy Oliver (not me)

02.05.2025 00:01 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I'm very sorry for your loss.
I'm okay--things are peaceful. Though I have been anxious & edgy & struggling with motivation.
By the way, when I am grieving, these are two brief poems by Issa that help me: thedewdrop.org/2021/03/24/i...

Sounds frustrating. What's the nature of the slump?
01.05.2025 01:47 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0You weren't exaggerating. It's like they're trying to neutralize every poem with concentrated anti-poetry. Vile.
09.04.2025 19:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Gratulon! Mi certas, ke vi havos multajn pliajn sukcesojn.
01.04.2025 02:00 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks for sharing your poetry. Especially loved the multisyllabic rhymes in the sixth stanza.
20.03.2025 06:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Horrible. The bland, naked hostility of it.
18.03.2025 06:10 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Kind of you to ask! Better than some but worse than others, I suppose. Haven't had the wherewithal to post much. How are you?
18.03.2025 06:00 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Sensational!
22.02.2025 19:43 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0My money's on "good."
20.02.2025 19:46 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Thanks. I'll remember that. :)
05.02.2025 18:10 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Thanks for the additional linguistic knowledge! Though I'm sure your interpretation is correct, it's neat the the poem picks up additional potential readings in the translation process.
05.02.2025 17:57 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I imagine your interpretation is correct! However, just for fun, I'll share my initial impression. I thought that in this poem, Mareez, demonstrating self-awareness, realizes that his suffering is self-inflicted. Everyone he meets is wiser than him, because they haven't chosen to be miserable.
05.02.2025 05:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A bit! The tone can get more prosaic or more lyric/mythic depending on the POV character.
04.02.2025 20:58 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0A dragon breathes fire, declaring: "Keep writing, Clare!"
04.02.2025 20:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 1& you? Something dragon-y?
04.02.2025 20:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Novel! Been working on it for ages. Melancholy, surrealistic children's narrative for adults; convenience stores & orphan girls gone missing; a poem in some of its moods. A goodly number of birds.
04.02.2025 20:17 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 2 π 0I feel Mareez would have a lot of advice for Maggie Cheung & Tony Leung's characters in that movie.
04.02.2025 01:52 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0(In the Mood for Love / θ±ζ¨£εΉ΄θ― is one of my favorites.)
03.02.2025 21:54 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That's the goal for today & tomorrow & the day after.
03.02.2025 21:39 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Lovely.
Looked up the title--seems like it shares a name with this Zhou Xuan pop song from the 40s? www.youtube.com/watch?v=_h95...
That song also gave Wong Kar-wai's gorgeous, achy film "In the Mood For Love" its original name, meaning "the flowery years."
Were you inspired by one of those?
February is better so far!
03.02.2025 17:59 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That's so sweet of you!
03.02.2025 17:56 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I knew it would be a hit!!

A group of five penguins greets our friend the petrel. Caption reads: "The Stranger Made a Dignified Bow"
Illustration of an irritated penguin giving a petrel a shove. Caption reads: "Stormy Quite Lost His Balance and Went Sprawling on the Ice"
The back two pages of the book. Illustration of birds (eider duck, albatross, stormy petrel, grey goose, puffin, sheath bill, emperor penguin, gull, adelie penguin, tern) appear, overlaid by two reading children in silhouette.
You gave me no choice but to read the whole book. Good decision.

29.01.2025 05:07 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Just ordered it from interlibrary loan.
28.01.2025 06:55 β π 2 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0This one's wistful. Made me ache.
26.01.2025 18:04 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I hope we get to see a picture at some point (but if it is too personal to post I more than understand)
