Wild beavers release marks new chapter for nature recovery in Cornwall - Beaver Trust Cornwall Wildlife Trust is celebrating the return of wild beavers to Cornwall, as the county’s first fully licenced release has now taken place β€” a landmark moment for nature recovery both in Cornwall...

This is a momentous step for beaver restoration. We hope it marks the beginning of species restoration at the scale needed to halt species decline and tackle the biodiversity crisis, in line with the gov’s legally binding commitments. Read moreπŸ‘‡

Encouragement boosts people’s likelihood to take climate action The fight against climate change is often framed as a sacrifice: eat less meat and drive less often. But those actions could also be framed positively: eat more plants and ride bikes more often. A…

Framing climate action as β€œdo more good” instead of β€œdo less bad” makes people more likely to act β€” and expect greater happiness β€” according to research.

Clear, positive alternatives help people engage rather than feel deprived, with driving the only action where framing made little difference.

The UK is suffering a decline in children and young people’s wellbeing: statistics show that almost a third of 16–24 year-olds reported evidence of anxiety or depression, with children aged 5 to 16 years experiencing mental health problems.
A recent study: #cycling is shown to be a viable treatment.

Screenshot of the podcast landing page with an image of a wild sea breaking against rocks as the thumbnail and the description that reads:

Raynor Winn’s memoirΒ The Salt PathΒ was a bestseller and literary phenomenon with millions of people captivated by this true story of financial ruin, terminal illness, and healing through nature. Raynor Winn has since published two more books and The Salt Path has been adapted for the big screen, starring Jason Isaacs and Gillian Anderson.
At its heart it is a simple tale, of a couple embarking on a 630 mile trek in the face of stark adversity. When faced with nothing, they chose to walk.
But when reporter Chloe Hadjimatheou received a tip-off that the memoir may not be the "unflinchingly honest" account it claimed to be, suddenly things began to unravel. And the questions, about what is and isn't true, began mounting.
How far can you bend the truth before it begins to break?
Episode 1 will be available to listen on Tuesday 13th January.

We’re relieved to hear that Hamlet, a 4-year-old Golden Eagle, has recovered from his injuries and been released back into the wild after being shot in the Borders.

It comes after the suspicious disappearance of two other Golden Eagles, Tarras and Wren, in the south of Scotland in August.
