The Chapel stuff didn’t bother me too much, especially since there are hints of it in TOS, but “let’s not label it, and also I’m going to die because of your great grandfather” is certainly a narrative choice being made.

This is genuinely the most disappointing thing about this season of Strange New Worlds right now.

Five star review of Together What a weird experience to watch this as someone who did not start treating their anxiety or figure out they were nonbinary until after being widowed. Incredible Spice Girls needle drop I can’t believe I didn’t see coming.

This season has been so weirdly off-putting. And they’re SO DEDICATED to the Gorn stuff and Spock’s love life.
(And if you’re going to do that in 2025, make Spirk canon, cowards)
And it feels like they’re setting up at least two versions of the Enterprise Klingon stuff, and I really hope I’m wrong.

Same here! The only thing I miss is being able to share playlists, and if more people moved to Tidal that would stop being an issue.

(Until recently the inability to change playlist covers was a little annoying, but they just fixed that too)

I've gone to the same dentist since I first grew teeth in the early 80s, and while they don't let me pick anything out, they still have the same plastic penguin full of trinkets that they did when I was a kid. I give the penguin a little nod like an old friend on each visit.

At the risk of encouraging bad habits, it was a lifesaver last month when I was stuck in the airport. And also it's become a good fidget toy when I'm watching TV.

I like the talent show episodes, and I don't care about messing with canon, but I feel like every episode feels like a new origin story for some small event later. It feels like it's not allowed to be its own thing either way.

I don’t know how many years it’s been since the squeaky sex song post, but I still find myself tapping it out on my desk as a fidget.

There is a ship, apparently, but I’m into the idea of having a non-ship show.

That said, every Trek project that hasn’t been about a bridge crew (Disco, Lower Decks, Picard) becomes about a bridge crew, so I wouldn’t be shocked if the same thing happens with SFA.

I mean, Starfleet Academy is definitely far away from the 23rd century (I love that setting and wish Discovery did more with it, so I’m excited).

But yeah, I agree that I’m done with the TOS and TNG eras. Just jump ahead to the late 25th century and give us all new characters/scenarios.

This season of Strange New Worlds has the same checklist vibe I don’t love in the last season of Enterprise. Every episode feels like a prequel.
But it’s nice to get Carol Kane back!
Given her character’s immortality, I’d be happy if she just keeps popping into whichever Star Treks she has time for.

We discuss the scents of houses we’ve known sunlit musk that’s since been erased by renovations leaving double vision what was over what is, even when walls have been opened and erected like two labyrinths superimposed golden soap in a bathroom long abandoned not to time but for others to make their own poems unaware
