Returning urban space to human habitat seems like a no-brainer but most mayors still think cars vote.

When will the Canadian government issue a travel warning to Canadians about the threats they might face from the United States government?
This is a nation that has no respect for individual rights or the rule of law.
We have 55 plus Canadians kidnapped and in detention.

Every flashbang could instead be a meal for a poor kid. Every hotel room for a National Guardsman deployed to fire at our neighbors could house a homeless vet. Every "less-than-lethal" bullet pulled from a journalist's eye could be already needed healthcare for anyone else. All of this is a choice.

Graphic from 1927 showing that one electric street car moves as many people as 28 automobiles, assuming two people per automobile.

In case you were wondering how long we’ve known that mobility in cities is fundamentally a space problem, this was from Wichita Falls, Texas in 1927.

The streetcar was electric.

And they would need more cars today because of fewer average people in each car.

β€œA huge 89% majority of the world’s people [56% even in the United States] want stronger action to fight the climate crisis, but feel they are trapped in a self-fulfilling β€œspiral of silence” because they mistakenly believe they are in a minority, research suggests.”

In 1862, a Union soldier found cigars wrapped in a piece of paper in a field of clover. The paper was a copy of Confederate Gen. Lee's invasion orders. The Southern sloppiness helped the Union stop Lee at Antietam.
It's unknown who lost the orders in the field, or if he was related to Pete Hegseth.

Separated bike-lane in downtown Vancouver filled with people on bikes.

It’s REALLY important that #Vancouver’s Downtown Business Association, who were originally against downtown bike-lanes, are now among their most vigourous supporters, because of the evidence that they are better for downtown business than any street parking they replaced.

Bike-lanes mean business.

Separated Bike Lanes Means Safer Streets, Study Says β€” Streetsblog USA Cities that build protected lanes for cyclists end up with safer roads for people on bikesΒ and people in cars and on foot, a new studyΒ of 12 large metropolises revealed Wednesday.

Never forget, a 13-year study found that protected bike-lanes led to a drastic decline in fatalities for all road users.

ALL ROAD USERS.

And painted bike-lanes? No safety improvement at all. For sharrows, it’s actually safer to NOT have them.
