Retired, granddad to 5 girls, I live in Scotland, which needs to be independent, and Italy which is warmer. I hate what Brexit has done to us all. I love cycling.

Death Squads Execute Second Dissident Or what the US press would say if this was happening on the streets of a "shithole" country overseas

Why are Tories not being hauled over the coals about this.

They said 350m could be saved and given to NHS.

They didn't say how much the country would lose from lost trade, lost investment, lost EU grants, EU funding, lost knowledge (eg on sharing crime data)

Yet Labour getting trolled at budget.

Thatโ€™s it in a nutshell! Why is it so hard to reach that consensus regarding the the reversal of Brexit.

The fall of a republic "As a regular visitor to the US over the last thirty years and just back from the States I am getting a definite feeling that something is brewing"

"Historians will be working around the clock trying to understand how the Republican Party, in a few short years, got to the point where their loyalty is to one person and not the constitution."

Brad Lander: "I'll keep coming back to court, week after week"
YouTube video by Brad Lander for NYC Brad Lander: "I'll keep coming back to court, week after week"

Tonight, I'll go home and sleep in my bed. I have a lawyer, I'll get due process.

But Edgardo, whose arm was ripped from mine by ICE agents, has none of those things.

That's why I'll keep coming back to court, week after week, to make sure that people's rights are protected.

When someone behaves and acts like an utter cunt, and we, as a society, exclude them - this is not discrimination, it is our way of making them understand that acting like a cunt is unacceptable.

Iโ€™m talking about ๐Ÿซต Yaxley-Lennon

(Apologies for the swears - but sometimes itโ€™s required)

Keir Starmer canโ€™t build a stronger European partnership by stealth. He has to declare it aloud | Rafael Behr Britain has โ€˜resetโ€™ relations with the EU, but with Farage ascendant again, our politics must be cured of the Brexit virus, says Guardian columnist Rafael Behr

Please repost, if like me, you will never accept Brexit.

It harms the British people. It was obtained through foreign interference and by far the worst abuses of democracy in modern British history, and it robs us of freedom and citizenship.

Utter chaos, I get why these exemptions make sense but the 1000s of everyday items that will still be imported with tariffs will impact the lower wage demographic and small businesses.

Trump's moves, which started on day one with his pardoning of roughly 1,500 people jailed for storming Capitol Hill four years ago, and commuting the terms of the hardest core offenders, have ticked nearly every box on the scholarly checklist of democratic backsliding.
But his alacrity has also cast the system's defenders into disarray.
"This is moving a lot faster than any of us anticipated," says Steven Levitsky, a Harvard scholar and co-author with Daniel Ziblatt of How Democracies Die. The capture of state institutions that took strongmen like Viktor Orbรกn or Recep Tayyip Erdogan many years to accomplish, "Trump is trying to pull off in months".
Moreover, a hostile seizure of the key government organs has never been tried in a wealthy and established democracy like America, he says. "Trump's speed and intent is remarkable. Even when they happen slowly, such all-out assaults are hard to stop."

The Republican-controlled Senate dutifully confirmed every Trump nominee, including several whose conduct and record would have caused their rapid ejection in any other era.
The US now has, among others, a health secretary who doubts the efficacy of vaccines, an FBI director who has vowed lawfare on Trump's enemies and a director of national intelligence accused of parroting Kremlin propaganda.
Almost no Republicans objected when Trump stripped security protections from erstwhile officials, including Mike Pompeo, his former secretary of state, John Bolton, a former national security adviser, and Brian Hook, his ex-Iran envoy. The FBI says each are on an Iranian hit list.
