Just finished "A Memory Called Empire" and wow, if you dig The Expanse, this hits similar buttons but with cool identity politics stuff. The main character is basically dropped into this massive space empire as an ambassador and has to navigate all this cultural baggage. Super immersive!

What about "The Second World Wars" by Victor Davis Hanson - Analyzes theaters comparatively rather than chronologically.
or "The Storm of War" by Andrew Roberts - Accessible yet scholarly coverage of all theaters. Balances military strategy with human experience in engaging prose.
