04.11.2025 11:26 โ ๐ 1 ๐ 0 ๐ฌ 1 ๐ 0A stylized cover art for the book titled "Beyond the Mark: Ashes of the Hero," featuring a silhouette of a cloaked figure in a dark, magical forest. The figure, shrouded in shadow, is holding a glowing sword with a vibrant red hue. Intricate patterns adorn the figure's cloak, evoking a sense of mystery and fantasy. The background showcases an eerie forest with bare, twisted trees and ethereal lights, creating a mystical and foreboding atmosphere. In the distance, a castle with spires looms against a pale, glowing sky, adding a sense of adventure and danger to the scene. The title is prominently displayed at the top in bold, stylized lettering, with a vivid gradient effect that contrasts with the darker tones of the artwork. The overall composition conveys themes of heroism, darkness, and a journey into the unknown.
UPDATE! ๐น๐
I realize not many people have access to much right now, so I put the eBook version of Beyond The Mark down to the lowest I could on Amazon, which is $0.99
Hope this helps it become more accessible, I'd rather continue the story than make money, so I hope you enjoy!

Hey #Writingcommunity
Whatโs the genre of your current WIP and what inspired it?
Always love hearing about the stories other writers are building ๐ฌ

Weird fantasy. Maybe absurdist fantasy.
As for inspiration, that's a little silly. I wanted something with a long enough title that I wouldn't need to bother with cover art. And it all just snowballed from there.
The last time this happened to me, I assigned each book a number. And rolled dice to see which one I read.
Worked out surprisingly!
Day 90
Sometimes you donโt realize what you have.
Itโs like a painting with the pointillism technique, numerous dots, and when you step away to look, the full picture emerges.
Writing is like that too.
600 words every day started Aug 3 to Dec 31 for a novel draft by end of year.

Same. Things always happen, but I think I can get some stuff out.

It's #NovemberWorldbuilders!
We're talking about colors in our worlds! Tell me about something in your world that's YELLOW or ORANGE? I find that these two are often underrated/underused in worldbuilding, so I'd love to hear what you have. Maybe something symbolic of the sun or made of gold?
The machine-monks fabricate replacement parts for themselves in a particular shade of orange, mostly because it appeals to their sensibilities. Something about being very pleasing in terms of esoteric chromathematic wavelengths.
But really they just think it's pretty.
Before I took a long break around this time last year, I was clocking in at 2k words a day. I thought I had a pretty good pace; could do better, but could be worse.
Now I'm slowly clawing my way back to that pace. But 1k words a day is still a decent pace, right?

About 24, give or take. That way there's just enough that their schemes may overlap and interrupt each other, but not quite enough that there's no possible way any of them can get anything done.
