Jaws has already been dissected to death, but Steven Soderbergh analysing it shot by shot in an interactive app thingy? Sounds like film nerd heaven to me.

On this week's podcast, possibly the most tragic car we've come across to date and a Rover with an orange nose.

The Escapist pivoting to AI doesn't shock me. It's an inevitable end, given the way it was going.

We put *so* much effort into The Escapist back in the day. I can't even tell you how hard we worked. People were proud to read it, proud to write for it. We did a lot of cool stuff.

Ah, well.

The Escapist was one of the first sites I ever did (paid) writing for - back in 2008 or something like that. It hasn't been the same for years now, but the official 'pivot to slop' is still sad to see. RIP.

Can we prompt AI out of existence? I mean, no, we can't. But just imagine. "Fuck really far off."
"Okay."

"In short: two multi-billion dollar companies, that employ some of the cleverest computer scientists on the planet, didn’t anticipate that their platforms – which turn a handful of words into moving images – would be used to create imagery that might infringe copyright."

this proved so popular that it is now the only business model in the US.

The way the manufacturers of inkjet printers have, for decades, screwed over their customers was an early warning of where late capitalism was going to lead us.
