No comment on gambling addiction? Some wild and unsettled claims here...

But scrolling tiktok kinda has a lot of similarities to playing slots, and gambling is definitely addictive

I mean, the internet is capable of giving you repeated dopamine hits, how can it not be addictive on some level to some people?

Economic Inequality by Gender How big are the inequalities in pay, jobs, and wealth between men and women? What causes these differences?

That pretty much lines up with the first source I found on adjusted pay gap, which says it's actually closer to 91% (as of 2010).

Obviously still bad, and definitely something to fix, but we can't just make up statistics.

Yeah exactly, no reason that wouldn't apply to any (properly implemented) CBDC

Fiat isn't a physical asset, but yeah you're kinda right. Centrally backed digital currency, CBDC, where you get the interoperability benefits of crypto, except with the trust of actual governments.

In theory can be great, but the Cheeto is probably not gonna make it great..

Just don't use bitcoin and the ecological footprint is comparable to centralised solutions.

Yeah I think deleting WhatsApp would kind of be social suicide. Everything is organised on it...

Totally predictable and barely made sense. S1 was kinda entertaining, but also not exactly great TV.

Most who try fail.

If you are born with a willy but are a girl, not trying to become a pro athlete seems like a very small price to be who you were born to be.

Just pursue a different career.

I dreamt of being a pilot for a long long time until I found out I was colour blind, so I moved on 🀷

This is where it gets murky to me. If I was a woman who dedicated my entire life, forgoing life experiences to become the best in the world, and then an m2f athlete pipped me to gold...

There aren't many people who have what it takes to go pro in sport. Those that do, they dedicate everything ..

Wired is dropping paywalls for FOIA-based reporting. Others should follow As the administration does its best to hide public records from the public, Wired magazine is stepping up to help stem the secrecy

They're called public records for a reason. Starting today, WIRED will *stop paywalling* articles that are primarily based on public records obtained through the Freedom of Information Act, becoming the first publication to partner with @freedom.press to offer this for our new coverage.

The past few years, many opinions I've had for a long time are starting to change.

Defense spending, maybe it's not throwing away money (though, that doesn't excuse selling weapons to anybody)

Gun control? Definitely necessary, but as long as there is none, you might want to buy one...
