They were aiming for a collision of disco and SAHB, and they succeeded.

I really enjoyed Kanopy while it lasted, especially all of the Criterion content.

Great advice, but not all public libraries offer the same access. For example, NYPL discontinued offering Kanopy in 2019.

Ah, cool, I think you’re in for a real treat... it’s really classy and mature. It’s not trying too hard to be something, if you know what I mean. Enjoy!

Yes, it makes it hard to accept a book as being authoritative or definitive.

Oops, I meant salt, not sand, as in taking what the book says with a grain of salt.
When I spot errors like that, I always wonder what other mistakes there are, which I’m not catching. Especially with a subject matter like skiffle, of which I was largely ignorant before reading the book.

The book was real grain-of-sand-type stuff.
He wrote that Peggy Sue was Buddy Holly’s first single -- it wasn’t, it was his sixth.

Ah, good, I’m really glad that it was new to your ears... and doubly glad that you enjoyed it!

Are you familiar with Paul Simonon’s most recent stuff? Galen & Paul? Possibly my favourite stuff to rise from The Clash’s ashes...

The cleverly sneaky twist, though, was Mick Hucknall impersonating Ian Anderson out of Jethro Tull!

No house is a home without a copy of that and the debut.

Strictly in the interest of plot-thickening… Mick Hucknall?

I’m not so sure, really. I think my post raised far more questions than it answered. I’m certainly more confused now than before!

Apparently, from what I read, that image has been fooling a LOT of people, so it’s not just you!

The upper right portrait isn’t Dean, though. It’s a model called Taras Koltun appearing in a Dean homage for Fiasco magazine.

A bit bittersweet, knowing that the forthcoming album closes the book for good on Chris Bailey's lifework. But judging by the three songs streaming there now, it’s also one to look forward to.

A lot of what he’d done over the decades comes in for a slagging, but I’ve always been a fan. I’m not bothered by whatever name he trades under, I’m just always glad to hear his voice. This time especially so.

Imagine having him in your band and thinking, β€œLet’s shift him to bass.” So moronic.
