Eh, disagree. To me it makes more sense flipped: if you're good enough to win your division and want a better seed, then go 14-3. May make games more meaningful after teams lock up the division. Winning the division would still mean something, a playoff spot even if your record wouldn't do it alone.

Am I missing something with the Leonard Floyd release? It appears we lost Floyd and took on $8.6 mil dead cap just to save <$1.5 mil - is there any benefit other than that? Just an eventual roster spot for someone else? Can't figure it out.

Not for the <$1.5 mil we saved against the cap by cutting him. So we give up Floyd and take on $8.6 mil dead cap just to save <$1.5 mil in cap space. I'd have rather kept Floyd this season.

Agreed. I was able to rationalize the "strategy" until Floyd. You don't cut him if you're committed to winning in 2025, especially considering the dead cap hit and the other moves they haven't made.

Great article. Appreciate the healthy skepticism with their "strategy" vs the typical lazy trust-the-process takes. This off-season feels like a dramatic overcorrection. They've willingly signed up for at least one season of mediocrity. Draft another Kinlaw in the 1st, it will be more than one.

I think the plan is a take-your-medicine year. I don't see how you can amass a league high dead cap and be truly competitive. Hard to get excited for this season.
