I think it would be prudent this fall in Madison to have police officers discreetly stationed at each polling location in case any attempt by the federal government is made to interfere.

I fully expect they donate a very large sum of that to the Republican Supreme Court candidate to help close her funding gap.

My guess is that they are hedging their bets and and putting in extra parking in case any sort of Amtrak and or other transit station is built there. Entices the city with more space for the station and the private entity gets to keep the parking revenue.

I think for it to be successful it would HAVE to be more frequent than the current Metra schedule, especially the northbound segments. High enough frequency is going to be key to making this successful in the face of likely Republican opposition.

Returning them to Borealis makes the most sense in allowing redistribution of other rolling stock. The superliners can go back to LD service. Then give Mardi Gras 2 Amfleets once enough Airos are on the Cascades, send the rest of the Amfleets back to NEC.

Amtrak says a small number of the horizon cars are being repaired and should return to service in 2026. REALLY hoping those go back on Borealis and there’s enough to return to the original consist/capacity.

It boils my blood to this day and keeps me motivated to get passenger rail to Madison.

Borealis is suffering immensely from this problem. If you live in Wisconsin vote for pro-rail candidates in the legislature in 2026 and encourage them to include funding in the next budget cycle for additional rolling stock. A $100 million+ investment is sorely needed in Wisconsin.

The AP just did an in depth story about customs and border patrol using flock cameras nowhere near the border.

Not a permanent solution but, repeal the minimum markup law on gasoline (should drop the price/gallon 4-5 cents), and raise the gas tax 4 or 5 cents, with all that revenue directed to mass transit in the state. Probably looking at over $140 million/year in new transit revenue for the state.

Kind of disappointing that Madison eliminated a size-able chunk of the center running lanes for side running lanes in the North-South BRT.

I’m excited for whenever it returns back, assuming it will get tacked into the Empire Builder and we can get a chance to see it.
