Don't get me wrong, Obama was still the least worst president of the 21st century, but to have any hope of a future the Dems need to throw their entire weight behind people like Mamdani who both represent the oppressed and give voice to the dire need for massive structural changes in the US.

Obama is a skilled orator but I think that at least in part the nostalgia for him lately is that people yearn for a time when neoliberalism w/ diversity was enough to win elections, because the idea that the system is rotten to its foundation is really scary to grapple with for its beneficiaries.
