If you hear about a Mexican Independence Day celebration in your area, go.

There is strength in numbers and โ€” especially if youโ€™re white โ€” you can protect your community just by being there and not flinching if ICE shows up.

These goons are cowards. Donโ€™t be one.

Trump said during the campaign he โ€œknew exactly what to say to Putinโ€ in one phone call to get him to end the war. He said he was going to do it his first day in office and the war would be over in 24 hours. But here we are. bsky.app/profile/atru...

I am grieving the barbarism that is going to unfurl from all this. People are going to die. Livelihoods gone. All to feed a corrupt kleptocracy.

I see every day up close how different it is from the first time around. There are no guardrails. A disaster. Iโ€™m sorry we have to live through this.

โ€œItโ€™s a weird time. Iโ€™ve still got to get to work on time, pay my bills, manage chronic illness, all that stuff, while the world in general seems to be falling apart. It can be a challenge to juggle those two things while making sure one of them doesn't completely destroy my mental health. Itโ€™s just an odd thing to be like: โ€˜Oh, all of these atrocities are being committed in Gaza with my tax dollars, but what am I going to eat for dinner?โ€™ Or: โ€˜Trump just dismantled another check on his power. Weโ€™re slowly sliding into fascism, nobodyโ€™s stopping him-- but what concert should we go to this weekend?โ€™ The strangest part about the whole thing is that weโ€™ve never been so connected. I could understand if this was eighty years ago; news travelled slowly. But now, in an instant, you get these facts, photos, videos. Verified by credible news, verified by aid organizationsโ€”and nobody cares. Well, a lot of people care. But the people who can actually fix things: they donโ€™t care. Instead of standing up for the voiceless, theyโ€™d rather lay low, cling to their money or status. Itโ€™s hard to be a person who cares right now. Sometimes you just want to melt into your bed or couch and be with your feelings. But I wonโ€™t say that I feel hopeless. Iโ€™d never say that, because thatโ€™s what they wantโ€”those people who only care about winning, who donโ€™t care about collateral damage. They want people to feel powerless. And Iโ€™m not going to give them that luxury. There are still reasons to be hopeful. Zohran just won the primary. And thatโ€™s a sign of change, in New York City at least. Even the people who donโ€™t agree with his politics have to admit: his campaign was built on community. It wasnโ€™t funded by billionaires. This was a campaign of fifty thousand people who volunteered, and canvassed, and made calls. Last week a lot of people who had been feeling powerless realized that they still have some power in this country. Letโ€™s just hope a lot more people are learning from that.โ€

ok I feel completely insane asking this but like

weren't we NOT blowing up rockets, like, 50 years ago. weren't we successfully sending rockets up that did not rattle apart. also weren't we like "ah yeah that was a fail" when the rocket fell apart instead of calling it a "partial success"

RFK Jr.โ€™s lies about autism are disgraceful โ€” and I won't share them to spread misinformation.

He consistently undermines public health and reinforces dangerous myths.

In Illinois, we stand with those with autism, and Iโ€™ll keep fighting for inclusion, science, and the truth.

Both. It's both.

On a daily basis, I marvel at how many people in putative positions of power are willing to help obliterate American democracy. The US has faced a series of very easy moral tests in the past decade and itโ€™s staggering how often people in once-respected positions have failed.

Among the material devastation to everyday people, Senate Dems have now blown a hole in their ability to work with the House.

We had an agreed upon plan, House took immense risk, then Senate turned around midway and destroyed it w/ a fear-based, inexplicable abdication.

They own what happens next.

Panel 1: Mark Zuckerberg stands on the stage at a Meta all-hands meeting, wearing a little chain and a shirt that says "Cool Dude." "I think our company could use more Masculine Energy," he says into a mic. In the crowd, an employee raises their hand. "Excuse me, Mr. Zuckerberg," the person asks. Panel 2: The person stands up, asking, "By "Masculine Energy," do you mean a mature definition where men in power use their relative strength to protect and uplift those less privileged?" Panel 3: The person continues, "โ€ฆor a more childish definition where men in power are free to be aggressive and harm others without being held accountable?" Panel 4: Zuck stands silent for a beat. Panel 5: "You're all fired," he says.

But all that to say, it also doesnโ€™t matter their age - that should apply to any government position regardless of age.

It just feels like weโ€™ve seen more and more cases of older members failing in their position and refusing to give it up.

So how do we ensure that those who are older are well-informed and educated on what theyโ€™re ruling or voting on - especially when theyโ€™re in positions of power?

They have a responsibility to do the best they can for their constituency and if they canโ€™t or refuse, then they shouldnโ€™t be there.

I was more speaking of the news that came out around the Supreme Courtโ€™s vote on Net Neutrality when an expert had to explain the basics of the internet and Netflix.

But didnโ€™t some body of government recently rule that experts are no longer required in court cases?

Thatโ€™s awesome, but it also doesnโ€™t feel like the norm. Iโ€™ve taught people 50+ who canโ€™t remember basic computer concepts from one week to the next. Though, Iโ€™d argue against myself that itโ€™s more of a stubbornness and refusal to learn than an actual issue with ability.

Recently took a peek at Twitter and the disinformation is getting substantially more dangerous. Someone could get killed.

The tactics of constantly repeating outright lies, targeting specific people, repurposing years-old footage and presenting them as new is getting to another level. Itโ€™s scary.
